Pallbearers were Lavoy Wilkerson, Frank Huff, Hubert Bowman, Ron Palmer, R.L. Till and Silas Kemp. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the Antioch Baptist Church. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.

Jim D. Brooks June 17, 1990, at the Pleasant Hill Nursing Home In Jackson following a short illness. She was a native of Rankin County, a former resident of Morton, and had lived In Jackson for the past 45 years. She was employed at Gayfers Dept. Store at Metro-Center prior to her disability, a member of the Forest Hill Chapter of the order of The Eastern Star at Jackson, and a member of the Woodville Heights Baptist Church In Jackson.

Survivors include her spouse, Mr. Hollice Waltman of Jackson; one son. Earl Waltman of Pineville, LA: one brother, Walter (Dub) Brasfieldof Mantatchie; four grandchildren, and several neices and nephews. Pallbearers were Allen Waltman, Oliver Waltman, Danny Clouse, Albert Martin, Keight Cooper and Joe Burns. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.

Amos Huston Jacobs Funeral services for Amos Huston Jacobs, 68, were held at 4:00 p.m., Monday June 18, 1990, from the Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Duncan and Rev. John Carter officiated. Interment was made in the Antioch Cemetery.

Mr. Jacobs passed away on Saturday, June 16, 1990, at the V.A. Hospital in Jackson, MS following an extended illness. He was a resident of the Antioch Community Rt. 2, Pelahatchie for the past 25 years, a native of Choctaw County and a former resident of Newton County.

He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and a deacon. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, also a member of the D.A.V. Spencer H.

Dawson Chapter in Jackson. Survivors include his spouse, Mrs. Myrtle Derrick Jacobs, Pelahatchie, MS; two daughters, Miss Ruth Jacobs, Pelahatchie, and Mrs. Marie James, Madison, MS; four sons, Brad Jacobs, and Patrick Jacobs both of Pelahatchie, Russell Jacobs, Jackson, MS and Dwight Jacobs, Lawerence, MS; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Dykes and Mrs.

Flora Williams both of Mobile, AL, Mrs. Dot Cooley, Ellisville, and Mrs. Mamie preceded her In death, Survivor include two sons, L. X. McCroy of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Felton Mc-Crory of Ft.

Wayne, Indiana; five daughters, Mattle McFadden, Dearths Owens, Louise Carter, and Ellar Tucker, all of Indianapolis, Indiana and Aretha Bufkin of Detroit, Michigan; thirty grandchildren; fifty-eight great grandchildren; twenty-eight great great grandchildren; a sister, Winnie Mae Spivey; foster daughter, Irtna Collins; a host of other relatives, including nieces and nephews, her church families and many dear friends. Pallbearers were grandsons. Holifield Funeral Home in Forest and Stuart Mortuary, in Indianapolis, Indiana was in charge of final arrangements. Dell J. Evans Funeral services for Dell J.

Evans were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 1990, from the ForestLawn Funeral Home in Forest, MS. Rev. Ken McLemore officiated. Interment was made in the Eastern Cemetery in Forest, MS.

Survivors include a son, Burney S. Evans, Lake, MS; two daughters, Margery E. Litchfield and Patricia L. Avers, both of Baton Rouge, LA; three brothers, John P. Jones, of Hattiesburg, MS, James R.

Jones, Millstone, Kentucky, and Hilton Jones, of Mobile, AL; one sister, Norma Jones, Miami, FL; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Gary Litchfield, Bryan Stevens, David Jones, Wesley Davis, Don Bass, and Rusty Evans. ForestLawn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Odessa D. Hillman Funeral services for Odessa D.

Hillman, 77, were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 1990, from the Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Neshoba County. Rev. Fred Fowler and Rev. Larry Duncan officiated.

Mrs. Hillman passed away Friday, June 22, 1990 at the Rush Hospital in Newton, MS. She was a housewife and a member of the Assembly of God Church. Survivors include three sons, James Hillman, Forest, MS, Cecil Hillman, Carthage, MS, and Larry Hillman, San Fran-ciso, CA; five daughters, Jewel Johnson, Marie Rowell, Shirley Derrick and Betty Harrsion, all of Forest; and Doris Easaterl-ing, Polkville, MS; two brothers, Oliver Dickerson, and Sam Dickerson both of Union, MS; two sisters, Alma Dickerson, Union, MS and Beatrice Wally of Pearl, MS; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. ForestLawn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Technical Sargent Jim D. Brooks, 36, were held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 1990, with Military Honors from the Ott and Ue Chapel in Forest, MS. Rev. Bill Chatham and Captain Tom Dickson officiated. Interment was made in the Goodhope Baptist Church Cemetery in Forest, MS.

Sargent Brooks passed away on Monday, June 18, 1990, following a sudden illness. He was a native of Scott County and moved from Morton to Brandon in 1987. He was a member of Cooperville Baptist Church in Morton. Sargent Brooks was a 1971 graduate of Morton High School and later attended Hinds Junior College for two years. He then joined the Mississippi Air National Guard in 1983.

He was a recipient of the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Meritorius Service Medal, Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and the U. S. Air Force Service School Ribbon. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Karen L.

Tucker, Brooks, Brandon, MS; two daughters, Miss Jessica Nicole Brooks and Miss Delanie Lee Brooks both of Brandon, MS; his father, James E. Brooks, Morton, MS; his mother, Mrs. Mary Ainsworth, Forest, MS; one sister, Mrs. Cheryl Johnson, Lake, MS; two brothers, Glenn O'Neal Brooks, Morton, MS and E. Ray Brooks, Chattanooga, TN; paternal grandmother, Mrs.

Mae Brooks, Lawrence, MS; and a number of nieces and nephews. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of arrangements. The Gospel Echoes to perform In Dixon Community The Gospel Echoes will sing at Mt. Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Dixon Community, Saturday night, July 7th at 7:30 p.m. The public is Invited to attend.

Amos family to hold annual reunion July 7 The Amos Family Reunion will be held July 7, at 1 0 a.m. until, at Roosevelt State Park. Temple Brotherhood to hold monthly meeting July 1 Temple Brotherhood will have their monthly first Sunday breakfast this Sunday, July 1 at 7:30. The ladies will join the men for breakfast. Gospel singing slated at Unity Assembly of God Church There will be a Gospel Singing, June 30, 7 p.m. at the Unity Assembly of God Church, Ringgold Community. Special singers will be The Trinity Quartet of White Oak, The Culpeppers and others. Ronnie Culpepper and the congregation invites everyone to attend. Rushing-Tucker family reunion to be held July 2-6 The annual Rushing Tucker Reunion will be held Saturday, June 30 at Union Baptist Church in the Red Top Community.

It will be a day to get re-acquainted, sharing, picture making, favorite food, fun, friendship, and just being together. The church has a new fellowship hall and it's really nice. New Hope Baptist Church plans revival services New Hope Baptist Church, Forest, will hold revival services, July 2 -6, 7:30 p.m. Featured evangelist, will be Rev. Reese Turner.

Rev. Emmanuel Isacc, pastor invites everyone to attend. ECPDD to hold public hearing for aging programs The East Central Planning and Development District Area Agency on Aging will hold a public hearing for aging programs on Tuesday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at the Meridian Senior Citizens Center, 1401 25th Avenue, Meridian, Mississippi. The purpose of this hearing is to inform all interested persons and organizations about programs and services available for senior citizens in Clarke, Jasper, Kemper, Lauderdale, Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott, and Smith Counties.

The goals and objectives for Fiscal Year 1991 will be discussed and an update of current year activities will be presented. Comments from the public will be welcomed. Amateur Radio Club to begin novice classes The Country Pride Amateur Radio Club will begin Novice classes starting July 1 2, 1 990 at 7:00 p.m. at Preston Holman Mill and Logging Supply on Hwy 1 3 South in Morton. Roosevelt Ellis officiated. Interment was in Midway Cemetery. Mrs. Ferrell was a member of the Midway Missionary Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to Henry Ferrell.

Five children were born to this union. Survivors include her husband, Mr. Henry Ferrell of Forest, MS; two daughters, Flossie (L. Banks of Forest, MS, and Georgia Patrick of Flint, Michigan; three sons, Claude Ferrell of Forest, MS, Floyd (Aretha) Ferrell of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Fate (Rebecca) Ferrell of Bogalusa, LA; seventeen grandchildren eight great grandchildren, one great grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Laura Johnston and Mrs.

Maude Jones of Forest, MS, Mrs. Maggie Simson of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. Mary Lue Peavie of Walnut Grove, Mississippi; two brothers, Mrs. Ex-so Holifield and Mr. Edgar Holifield of Forest, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; one brother and one sister preceded her in death, Mr.

Oliver Holifield and Mrs. Georgia Lawson. Active pallbearers are Felix Banks, L.C. Banks, Michael Ferrell, Dwight Ferrell, Arnold Patrick, and Tyrone Lynn. Honorary pallbearers were nephews.

Murrell passed away Saturday, June 9, 1990, at his home in Wildwood, FL. Mr. Monk passed away Wednesday, June 20, 1990 at his home in Walnut Grove. Survivors include his wife, Iris Lyn Monk, Meridian, MS; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Monk, Walnut Grove, MS; three Elbert Ray Monk, Philadelphia, MS; Tom- my Eugene Monk and William Ray Monk, both of Walnut Grove, MS; one daughter, Dorothy Imogene Monk, Madden, MS; four brothers, Kenneth, Moses, Bobby and Lewis Monk, all of Walnut Grove, MS; seven sisters, Eunice Sistrunk, Ida Shuler, Margie Sistrunk, and Liza Reid, ail of Walnut Grove, MS, Linda Thornsberry, Lena, MS; Mary Norwood, Union, MS; and Sue Windham, Newton, MS; and three grandchildren.

J. L. Holloway, officiated. Mrs. McCroy passed away on Friday, June 15, 1990.

She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mother's Board. She had lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, for the past ten years. Rev. Hueston Adkins, Dr. David Watkins, and Rev. Leon Emory officiated. Interment was made in the Lakewood Memorial South in Jackson, MS.

Webb, Sharon Bounds, Cynthia Barnes and Beth Russell from the Forest Municipal School District recently attended a one-day training program in early childhood education co-sponsored by The University of Mississippi School of Education and the State Department of Education. Taught by Dr. Cindy Leigh, associate professor of elementary education.at Ole Miss, the training program was held at Pearl. It was one of fijjftp'such workshops held around the state during May and June. Dr.

Leigh, principal author of the new "Primary Guide for Instructional Planning," is teaching the guide during each training session. Included in the publication are six interdisciplinary units incorporating Mississippi Basic Skills for grades 1-3, the language arts, hands-on science and manipulative-based mathematics. High school students participated in clinic Nine local high school students participated in a Summer Yearbook Clinic sponsored jointly by Taylor Publishing Co. and the University of Southern Mississippi's Division of Lifelong Learning. The clinic, held annually for high school students in grades 9-12, offers individual and group instruction in planning and production of high school yearbooks.

Students received instruction in writing, editing, layout, financial and business aspects, photography and artwork, typography, scheduling production and staff organization during the three-day seminar June 11-13.
