Follow-up programs on 'Discipline' and will be offered in August and September.

Babe Ruth tourney set July 19 at Gaddis Park The 1991 Babe Ruth 16-18 year old tournament will be held in Forest beginning July 19. Games will be at Gaddis Park. Teams from all parts of the state will compete in what should provide the best of high school level baseball. All fans and supporters are invited.

Human Services to distribute surplus foods The Scott County Department of Human Services will distribute surplus foods on July 19, 1991, at the National Guard Armory in Forest, from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. or until all foods are given out.

Food vouchers will be issued to food stamp recipients at the time their food stamps are issued. Applications for surplus foods for all other households will be taken from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. through July 18, 1991, in the food stamp office located in the Multi-Purpose Building. 521 Airport Rd, Forest.

Surplus foods will consist of butter, corn meal, vegetarian beans, green beans, raisins, and rice. Applications will be processed regardless of race, creed, color or national origin. Greenfield Club to host political rally, singing Greenfield Club will host a Political Rally, Gospel Singing and will be serving chicken dinners Saturday, August 10. Festivities will begin at 3:30 p.m.

All candidates will be welcome. Southside Church of Christ to hold revival Southside Church of Christ, Hwy. 35 in Forest will host a gospel meeting and revival July 21-24. Evangelist will be Ken Salley. Services will be held Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Liberty Baptist plans summer revival services Baptist Church will hold a revival July 21-26. Services will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Sunday. Monday through. Friday, services will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The visiting evangelist for the week is the Rev. Tony Henry from Walnut Grove. Liberty Church is located 4 miles east of Forest on old Hwy. The public is invited to attend. GED test dates announced at ECCC Remaining testing dates in 1991 for the General Educational Development (GED) Test have been announced at East Central Community College in Decatur, according to Vocational-Technical Center Counselor Jimmy Dempsey who serves as testing coordinator.

Dempsey said the GED Test, or high school equivalency exam, will be administered on August 9, September 6, October 4, November 1, and December 6. He said the exam will be given at 8:00 a.m. on each testing date at the Vo-Tech Center. Those interested in taking the GED Test should contact Mr. Dempsey at least one week prior to the appropriate testing date.

Amercian Legion Post 9 to install officers The American Legion and Auxiliary, Post 9, will have installation of new officers for the coming year on Monday, July 22, at 7 p.m. It will be a covered dish, so ladies bring two of your favorite dishes. East Central Development offers program on aging The East Central Planning and Development Agency on Aging will hold a Public Hearing for Aging Programs on Thursday, July 18, 1991, at 10 a.m., in the auditorium of the City Hall Building; Newton, Mississippi.

The purpose of this hearing is to inform all interested persons and organizations about programs and services available for senior citizens in Clarke, Jasper, Kemper, Lauderdale, Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott, and Smith Counties. The goals and objectives for Fiscal Year 1992 will be discussed and an update of current year activities will be presented. Comments from the public will be welcomed. ECMTA installs officers, makes plans The East Central Music Teachers Association (ECMTA) recently met in the home of Edna Earle Gibson in Forest. The agenda for the meeting included making plans for an Ensemble Festival to be held in November, 1991, as well as electing the following officers for a one-year term: Sara Cole, president; Diane Walker, Nona Massey, co-vice presidents; Gena Wells, secretary: Edna Earle Gibson, treasurer; Nona Massey, historian; and Irene Martin, publicity chairman.

Ole Miss alumni to meet at Bank of Forest An Ole Miss Alumni Meeting will be held Tuesday, July 23, at 6 p.m., at the Bank of Forest. Warner Alford will be the speaker. New Bethel to hold July revival New Bethel M.B. Church will have their annual revival July 22-26, 7:30 p.m. nightly.

Rev. J.P. Walker of Canton, will be the evangelist. The Sunday speaker will be Rev. Henry Patrick.

Mrs. Sananda Joetta Curry Funeral services for Mrs. Sananda Joetta Curry, 86, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 1991, from Green Grove United Methodist Church, Lake. Rev. Arthur Lewis, Jr.

officiated. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Mrs. Curry passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 1991, at Laird Hospital in Union. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr.

Sammie Lim Curry and a son, Mr. Sammie Lim Curry, Jr. Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Juanita Curry Gaston (Uel) of Las Vegas, NV; one son, Oscar Curry (Elvissie) of Decatur, IL; one sister, Mrs. Jimima Forte Curry of Forest; one step-daughter, Mrs.

Martha Lloyd of Jackson; three brothers-in-law, two sistersin-law; thirteen grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Holifield Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of arrange- ments. Mr. William D. Davis Funeral services for Mr.

William D. (Bill) Davis, 71, were held July 11, 1991, from Webb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Leesburg Baptist Church in Morton. Rev. Bill Henderson officiated.

Mr. Davis died July 19, 1991, at Anderson Hospital. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Forest. Survivors include: wife, Laura Davis, Newton; one daughter, Patricia Ann Hubbard, Forest; four step daughters, Elizabeth Ann Jenkins; Birmingham, AL; Marie Graham, Beulah Hubard; Brenda Jenkins, Newton and Peggy Jenkins, Mobile, AL; two step sons, William M. Wilkerson, Forest, Archie Wilkerson, Union; mother, Eula Inez Davis, Vicksburg; five sisters, Maysel Marie Hope, Ruth Carber, both of Vicksburg; Eula Burrough, Vicksburg, Fannie Parker, Mize; Nora Reynolds, Terry; three brothers, Charles E.

Davis, Vicksburg, John H. Davis, Jackson and Wesley Davis, Forest. Pallbearers were William Wilkerson, Archie Wilkerson, Gerald' Graham, Donny Jenkins, George Jenkins and Art Wilkerson. James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. William Lee Boykin Funeral services for Mr. William Lee "Bill" Boykin, 68, of Conehatta were held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 12, 1991, at Gilmers Chapel Church of God. Reverends Jerry Bennett and John Sharp officiated. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Mr. Boykin passed away on Thursday, July 11, 1991, at his residence. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Lena Faye Boykin, Conehatta; one daughter, Mrs. Rachel Wolverton of Conehatta; two sisters Mrs.

Lillie Comans and Mrs. Melrose Clark both of Conehatta and a grandson, Steven Wolverton of Conehatta. Pallbearers were Rudolph Williams, Gerald Shephard, Gilbert Brown, Larry French, Lee Bennett, Alex R. Williams and Charles Sanderson. Milling Funeral Home of Sebastopol was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Charles Roncali Funeral services for Charles Roncali, 46, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 1991, from the Pine Ridge Baptist Church. Rev. Mark McDonald officiated. Interment was made in the Pine Ridge Cemetery, Lake, MS.

Mr. Roncali passed away on Thursday, July 11, 1991, at the Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS, following an extended illness. He was a native of Sunflower County and lived in the Newton area for the past 20 years. He attended the Newton Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs.

Dorothy Roncali, Newton, MS; his parents, Frank and Lillie Roncali, Newton, MS; one son, Charles Anthony Roncali and one daughter, Lisa Ann Roncali, both of Newton, MS; four brothers, Frankie Eugene Roncali, James Roncali, Robert Roncali and Lewis Roncali all of Newton, MS and one grandchild, Christopher Charles Roncali of Newton, MS. Pallbearers were Carlos Roncali, Robbie Roncali, Tim Baggett, Gary Renfro, Donald Renfro and David Renfro. Ott Lee Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Clinton Trest Funeral services for Clinton Houston Trest, SR, 74, 1 were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 14, 1991, from the Ott Lee Chapel in Morton, MS.

Rev. Travis Polk officiated. Interment was made in the Ludlow Cemetery, Lena, MS. Mr. Trest passed away on Friday, July 12, 1991, at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS, following an extended illness.

He was a native and resident of Ludlow most of his life, also a former resident of Morton. Mr. Trest was a veteran of WWII, U.S. Air Force. He was a field supervisor for B.C.

Rogers Poultry Company for many years prior to his retirement. He attended the Ludlow Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Jimmie Trest-in 1990. Survivors include five daughters, Linda Gail Trest, Jackson, MS, Ann Drane, Greenville, MS, "Bobbie Measells, Morton, MS, Debbie Sigrest, Pascagoula, MS and Tondra Trest Eure, Ridgeland, MS; three sons, Joey Houston Trest, Ludlow, MS, Scott Trest and Clinton Houston Trest, JR both of Madison, MS; eleven grandchildren; two aunts, Mrs.

Mae Lewis, Morton, MS and Mrs. Inez Ealy, Ludlow, MS; one uncle, Odie Trest, Ludlow, MS and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Stevie Porter, Jack Yates, Jimmy Gates, Sammy Trest, Jeff McMillan and Jimmy Porter. Ott Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of the Mr. John Currie Funeral services for Mr.

John Currie, 76, were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 1991, from the Goodwater Baptist Church. Rev. Billy Ballard and Rev. Maxwell Price officiated. Interment was made in the Goodwater Baptist Church Cemetery, Rt.2, Forest, MS.

Mr. Currie passed away on Thursday, July 11, 1991, at the Smith County General Hospital in Raleigh, MS, following a sudden illness. He was a lifelong resident of the Lemon -Good water Community. Mr. Currie was a member and deacon of the Goodwater Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dollie McNeil Currie, Rt.2, Forest, MS; one daughter, Mrs. Johnnie Sue Gaddis, Raleigh, MS; one son, Mr. John Paul Currie, Rt.2, Forest, MS; one sister, Mrs. Ruby Hawkins, Lorena, MS; three brothers, Mr.

Noah Currie, Mr. Bill Currie both of Rt.2, Forest, MS and Marble Granite Works "Mississippi's Largest Selection of Monuments" Alice Livingston Herron, Office Mgr. Hwy. 35 North, Forest Office 469-4211 Res. 469-2636 Mr.

W.C. Currie, Pulaski, MS; four grandchildren; one great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. John Guy Funeral services for John Guy, 85, were held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 1991, from the Ott Lee Chapel in Morton. Rev. R.C. Westbrooks and Rev.

Otha Lee Dennis officiated. Interment was made in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Morton, MS. Mr. Guy passed away on Friday, July 12, 1991, at the S.E. Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest, following an extended illness.

He was a native of Glen Allen, MS and a longtime resident of the Polkville Community. Mr. Guy was a member of the Branch Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Guy, Polkville, MS; one daughter, Dorothy Simpson, Morton, MS; two sons, J.C.

Guy and Ernest Guy both of Polkville, MS; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Donald Adcox, David Westberry, Clement Evans, Johnny Ray Huff, Louie McCarty and Joe Hughes. Ott Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of the ararrangements. Porter, 61, were held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 1991, from the Ott Lee Chapel in Morton. Rev. Edgar Jenkins officiated. Interment was made in the Leesburg Baptist Cemetery, Rt.2, Morton, MS. Mr.

Porter passed away on Sunday, July 14, 1991, at the Methodist Hospital in Jackson, MS, following an extended illness. He moved from Brandon and had lived in the Leesburg Community for the past 2 months. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joyce Ann Porter, Rt.2, Morton, MS; four sons, William Porter, South Carolina, Jimmy C. Porter, Brandon, MS, Billy Ellingburg, Morton, MS, and Charles Edward Ellingburg, Dallas, TX; two daughters, Melissa Purcell, Pensacola, FL and Nittie Fay Dawson, Woodville, MS; one sister, Cleo Weaver, Lake, MS; two brothers, Leo Porter, Morton, MS and Russell Porter, Pelahatchie, MS and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ellis Tanner, Jerry Coward, Timmy Dean, Roy Coward, Bo Coward and Michael Ray Coward. Ott Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of the ar- rangements. Mrs. Ruby Ann Bowden Funeral services for Ruby Ann Bowden, 82, were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 1991, from the Ott Lee Chapel in Morton. Rev.

R.F. Watkins officiated. Interment was made in the Morton Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Bowden passed away on Sunday, July 7, 1991, at the Scott County Nursing Home in Morton, following an extended illness.

She was a native of Oklahoma City, OK, a former resident of Houston, TX and had lived in Morton for the past two years. Survivors include one brother, Burton Baker, Oklahoma City, OK; five step-grandchildren; four stepgreat grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Arthur Westman, J.T. Westman, Paul McLemore and David Parker. Ott Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of the arrangements.
