i i 8 8 8 8 Miss Gladys Bryant Funeral services were held July 29, at 1:30 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel, Hattiesburg, for Gladys C. B) Bryant, 71, of Hattiesburg, who died July 24 at the Hattiesburg Convalescent Center. Gary Berry officiated; interment was in the Providence Cemetery. Miss Bryant was a native of Sanford, MS, and a member of the Temple Church, Hattiesburg.

She was a graduate of New Orleans Seminary an also a graduate of Clarke College. For three years she worked with the state Training Union She, had worked as BSU director at Itawamba Community College six years and East Central Community College for 30 years. She retired in June 1986. She is survived by four brothers, Ford Bryant of Eatonville, MS; Ermon H. Bryant of Satellite Beach, FL; Bryan W.

Bryant, Houston, TX; Norris R. Bryant, She was preceded in death by her parents, Abner A. and Ella Bryant. Mrs. Edna Harris Funeral services for Mrs.

Edna Allen Harris, 70, were held at 4 p.m., Monday, August 26, from the Two Mile Baptist Church. Rev. Luther Hart and Rev. James Chandler officiated. Interment was made in the Two Mile Cemetery, Rt.

2, Morton, MS. Mrs. Harris passed away on Saturday, August 24, at the Rankin Medical Center in Brandon, following a short illness. She was a native and longtime resident of the Leesburg Community in Rankin County. Fortinberry pledges Delta Gamma at Ole Miss Courtney Fortinberry of Forest has pledged Delta Gamma sorority at The University of Mississippi. Ms.

Fortinberry is the daughter of Gaybie and Bill Fortinberry. Delta Gamma is one of 14 national sororities recognized on the Ole Miss campus. FHS pre-season football show to be aired Forest High School pre-season football show will be aired on Channel 5 at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next week, September 3-5. INARFE to meet Thursday at Best Western The local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) will meet on Thursday.

Country Day pageant slated September 14 Sebastopol Country Day is September 14. The Country Boy Pageant will be held September 12. The competition includes birth to 18-year categories. Entry forms may be picked up at Sebastopol City Hall. The only requirement is that contestants reside in the Sebastopol School District.

The deadline to enter is September 6. Livestock pageant to be held September 17 The Scott County Livestock Association will hold its annual Livestock Queen and Princess Pageant September 17. at 7 p.m. at the Forest Community Center. Queen contest is open to young women in grades 9-12, who attend school in Scott County, and will consist of interview, western wear, and evening gown competition.

(Continued on Page 12A) Deaths Deaths Mrs. Ozelle Tadlock Funeral services for Mrs.

Ozelle Windham Tadlock, 82, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 31, from the Forest United Methodist Church. Rev. Lee Dolloff and Rev. Dudley Ford officiated. Interment was made in the Homewood Methodist Cemetery.

Mrs. Tadlock passed away on Thursday, August 29, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson, following a sudden illness. She was a native of Homewood, and had lived in Forest for the past 16 years and formerly lived in Metairie, LA. Mrs.

Tadlock was a member of the Forest United Methodist Church and a member of the Cleaner's II Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband, R. D. Tadlock, Forest, MS; two daughters, Mrs. Pat (Julia) Sorey, Pineville, and Mrs.

Finley (Patricia) Brown, Sebastopol; three sons, Jerry Tipton Tadlock, Metairie, LA, Tony Robin Tadlock, Homewood, and Samuel Winfred Tadlock, Forest; two brothers, Winson Windham and Roger Windham both of Homewood; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Prentiss Wayne Moore, Kirby Moore, Jay Tadlock, Paul Tadlock, Kevin Tadlock, Ricky Brown, Bobby Tadlock and Keith Tadlock. Honorary pallbearers were Glinda Brown Cochran and Cindy Tadlock. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of the arrangements. Mr.

James White Funeral services for James Howard White, 69, were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 31, at the ForestLawn Funeral Home Chapel, in Forest. Rev. Daniel L. Perry and Rev. C.

D. Finch officiated. Interment was made in the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. White passed away on August 29, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was Da member of Ephesus Baptist Church. He served with the U. S. Navy during World War, II.

He was a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans Association, Leake County and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post He had lived in Forest for 17 years, moving here from New Jersey. Survivors include: his wife, Wilma White of Forest; one son, Jimmy White, Franklin Park, New Jersey; two daughters, Kathy White and Cheryl White of Franklin Park, New Jersey; one step-son, Kenneth Ray Robinson, Lawrence; one step-daughter, Linda White, Forest; three brothers, E.T. (Dutch) White and Jerry White, both of Forest, and Truman White, Carthage; two sisters, Charline Morrow, Jackson, Berteel Bardwell, Bossier City, LA; six granchildren, two aunts, one uncle, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were James Johnson, Todd Johnson, Wade Anderson, Charles Bounds, David Walley, and Travis Hodge. ForestLawn Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of the arrangements.

O.B. Wilkerson Funeral services for O.B. were held at 2 p.m., Monday, August 26, from the Two Mile Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Miles, and Rev.

Edgar Jenkins officiated. Interment was made in the Two Mile Cemetery with military rites at the graveside. Mr. Wilkerson passed away on Saturday, August 24, at the S.E. Lackey Memorial Hospital, following a short illness.

He was a native of the Forkville Community in Scott County, and a longtime resident of Morton. Mr. Wilkerson was a charter member, a deacon, and on the board of trustees of the Two Mile Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War Il, a member of the D.A.V.

and a member of the American Legion. He was a refrigeration mechanic for B.C. Rogers Poultry Co. for prior to his retirement. many years He was preceded in death by his wife, Geroldean Parker Wilkerson in 1983, and a son, Billy Ray Wilkerson in 1989.

Survivors include one son, Fletcher Wilkerson, Morton; four daughters, Linda Yates, Raleigh, Deborah Beemon, Sandra Crane and Teresa Brown all of Morton; one sister, Mrs. Jennive Porter, Morton; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jerry Porter, Terry Porter, Robert Rogers, IlI, Norris Hall, James D. Porter and Scotty Price. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the Two Mile Baptist Church.
