Out of the town teachers were Ernestine Larry Talbert and Ruth Boler Johnson. Constance Slaughter I larvey presented the special talent of the night which was poetry from New York actor Lawrence Evans. His work was enjoyed by all and he received a hearty Forest ovation.

Efforts are now underway to get him back home for a full length presentation. I le was great! Mary Ann Pickens and Lewis Lyles coordinated the presentation of d(xr prizes. Special appreciation to Lackey I lome Center, Brass Knob, The Scott County Times, Desigas by David, Studio of Flowers, Unique Choice, Slaughter Library. Mrs. Clara I larper Jaymes, Attorney Constance Slaughter Harvey and Alderwoman Cynthia Melton for the door prizes.

The special appeal for Scholarship Fund was lead by Constance Slaughter Harvey and the appeal netted Special thanks to all who contributed. Following the school song, benediction was given by Abraham Buckley. The banquetmeeting was adjourned until July 2000. served as the master of ceremonies and Oscar Curry provided the invocation. Alumni members were welcomed to the city by School Board member Bertha Stowers, Tax CollectorAssessor Myra Murrell nd Forest Alderwoman Cynthia Melton.

These women were recognied as tlw newest public officials. Several members expressed their appreciation for the sincere welcome and the display of Forest hospitality. Planning Committee member Albert Moore provided the blessing of the food. Lawrence Smith provided the music and he was assisted by Joe Tucker. The combination of these talents once again placed Forest on the map.

The special segment of the program was die Memorial Tribute Memorian-Their Living which was narrated by Constance Slaughter Harvey and Carolyn Knowles read a tribute. Members of the Planning Committee paid tribute to deceased alumni members by lighting candles in their honor. Those recognized as having passed since the 5th reunion were Genie Benton, I lenry Crump, Gwendolyn Sherrod Dubose, Katye Eubanks, Charles Ficklin, George Ford, Henry Ford, Willie Ford, A.L. Graves, Odessa Graves, I lenrietta spending their vacation with her. Her niece Pearl is expected to come over and visit this week.

We enjoyed hearing from Mrs. Addie Russell who called to check on us. She inquired about the youth at the Library and offered her assistance. We always appreciate hearing from her and we look forward to her advice. We appreciate hearing from John Forte who was home attending to and caring for his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. John (Loubertha) Forte. He was busily showering them with attention and love. Mr. Forte was not doing well and Mrs.

Forte seems to be moving right along. Please remember them in your prayers. We called to check on Mrs. Robertha Turner and she says that she is doing fair. We missed seeing her sitting on her porch.

Please remember hr in your prayers. We erred last week and did not list Roy Pinkston, Cynthia Melton and Walter Ford and give them credit for their financial assistance to the Hawkins Scholarship Fund. Each contributed $20. The Sixth SCTSETHHS Alumni Association Banquet Program was quite impressive. Coach Roy Pinkston appreciation for our prayers.

Lef continue to remember them. The Board of Directors of East Central Community Action Agency(ECCAA) advises that the Agency is presently undergoing reorganization and will continue its services during this interim period in the same location. The members apologize for any inconvenience this move causes clients. Clients should however continue to seek assistance from the main office. Happy anniversary to Lester and Ruthie Lay who celebrated their sixth anniversary Saturday.

Mr. Lay will also celebrate another special day in July his birthday on Wednesday, the 29th. Congratulations! Mrs. Henrietta Horton enjoyed spending the weekend in Jackson with her daughters Barbara Longmire, Sandra Bingham, Sybil Rule, and son Leonard. She shopped and visited with friends.

Mrs. Idell Pay ton is enjoying the family reunion in Milwaukee. We'll have the latest on the happenings when she returns. Mrs. Cladis Strong is enjoying her grandchildren, Celia Lee, Wanda and Cheryl Mayers from Chicago, who are Guyse, James B.

President Pearl Clark gave the State of the Association report which was followed by the election of officers. On a motion by Lee Smith, the present slate of officers were re-elected by a unanimous vote. Marquita Patrick presented the 12 recipients (1987-1998) of the E.T. Hawkins Scholarship and three expressed their appreciation, namely Teselyn Melton '90, Rashard Burgess '95 and Constance Olivia Har Friends and family of the late Mr.

Morris Clover paid tribute to him Wednesday, July 22, 1998 a 11 a.m. at the W.F. Mapp Funeral Home. Rev. J.T.

Curry delivered the eulogy. Others participating on the program Included Rev. Eugene Russell, Rev. Willie Thig-pen and Mr. Howard Presha.

Interment was at Lovelady Cemetery. Our prayers are with his family especially his son Alphonso, daughter Shelia, sisters Mrs. Clara Washington, Mrs. Mary (Mose) Ware, Mrs. Juanita (James) Crudup, and Mrs.

Lucy (Albert) Moore, and brothers Joe (Mae Ruth) Clover and Charles (Margaret) Clover and uncle Alart Lovelady. Please remember the family in your prayers. Mrs. Phyliss McKee (Body) has been released from the hospital and is recuperating at home. Her children, Jeffry and Adrienne, are providing around the clock care.

Other members of her family are also showering her with affection and attention. Please remember her in your prayers. We visited with Mrs. Christine Burge and Mrs. Mae Ruth Glover who were hospitalized at the Mississippi Baptist Hospital last week.

and Mildred Boykin were Jay, Millie, Tripp, and Maggie Brister of Madison and Kay Rankin. On Sunday they all attended the Trinity Methodist Church 151 observance and Boykin reunion and on Thursday, July 23, they helped their mother and grandmother, Mildred, observe her sixty-eighth birthday anniversary. Glad to report that Betty Ann Euper has returned to her home here and is improving slowly, but satisfactorily, with upcoming recovery in days ahead. Angie, Parker, Jyd Hayden chard of Atlanta visited with Le6n and Merl Jones and other relatives here and in Jackson from last Thursday over the weekend. lies and on Saturday, July 18, Ted, Nelda Bailey, Carl Ann, Amy and Leon Jones honored Merl on her birthday anniversary at the Western Siz-zler in Meridian.

Congratulations, Merl. Mary Beth (Brent) Thompson and Jennifer Wallace were hostesses for a miscellaneous reception bridal shower, honoring Jenny McGee, bride-elect of Chris Simmons of Winona, at the Family Life Center, Oak Grove Baptist Church, last Sunday afternoon July 19. Their wedding date is August 8, 1998, 5 o'clock p.m. at Forest United Methodist Church and reception room afterwards. Tammy, Summers, Lindsey and Robbye Ann Lee attended Vacation Bible School and New Good Hope Baptist Church last week.

Pennye Merle Gatewood visited with Estelle Fikes at Lackey's Convalescent Home, Forest, last Friday afternoon and found her about as usual for the past several months.
