and Mrs. G. C. Lancaster are invited to attend their Golden Wedding anniversary, to be given by their children, Sunday, October 9, 1960, at their home in the Pineville community from 2:00 until 4:00 p. m.

Mrs. Lancaster is the former Beulah Wilkins. Warren Jones of Forest was one of 81 Millsaps College students who were pledged by 4 campus social groups this year, according to Edward M. Collins, dean of students. Warren accepted: a bid from Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Pledges are required to meet certain scholastic and fraternity requirements before initiation in January. Dr. and Mrs. J. W.

Austin, Dr and Mrs. L. W. Willey, Dr. and Mrs.

Warren Jones, and Dr and Mrs. George Townsend plan to attend part or all of the twoday session of the Twelfth An nual Scientific Assembly of the Mississippi Academy of General Practice scheduled for September 28 and 29 at the Heidleberg Hotel in Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. C.

L. Brueck spent the week end in Memphis. They attended the Ole Miss Kentucky game on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs.

C. H. Mapp visited her sister Mrs. Lee Vaughn, at Decatur. Sunday.

Mrs. Kathleen Hall went to Richton Sunday to visit her brother Rev. Charles Schultz, who is ill. Mr. and Mrs.

Max Williams and children, Mike, Dinah, Susan, and Mal, spent the week end with Mr. Williams' mother, Mrs. C. N. Williams, at Quitman.

They also visited Mrs. J. C. Harwell in Meridian. Mrs.

Harwell accompanied them to their home for a visit. Mrs. Joe Baker and children, Joey and Kenny, visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. B.

B. Fortenberry and Mr. Baker's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baker at Prentiss last week.

Niles Red has made several trips to Union the last week to see his mother Mrs. S. F. Red, who is ill in the hospital. Mr.

and Mrs. F. C. Colbert, and son, Wayne, of Festus, returned to their home on Monday, after having spent a week with their son, Frank, and family. Mr.

and Mrs. Bob Boyles and children, Marcus and Doyle, of Laurel were visitors in the home of Mr. Boyles' aunt, Mrs. Lilla Lane Sunday. Mr.

and Mrs. Bobbie Harvey and daughter Lori, of Meridian, spent several days last week in the, home of Mrs. Harvey's mother, Mrs. Ouida Smith. Mr.

and Mrs. Hilton Boyles, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Colbert and their guests, Mr. and Mrs.

Frank Colbert, and Wayne Colbert of Festus, spent Sunday in Vicksburg. Myrtle Morris was installed as District 3 Treasurer in a meeting of the and PW club at the Lamar Hotel in Meridian Sunday. Fannie Vincent, Thelma Rogers, Mabel Hopper, and Nannie Mae Fountain attended the meeting. FORTNIGHTLY CLUB The first meeting of the For est Fortnightly Club was held September 8, 1960 in the lovely home of Mrs. G.

O. H. Hopkins, Mrs. G. T.

Mapp and Mrs. J. H. McMurphy cohostesses. The reception rooms were beautifully decorated with arrangements of red carnations and each place was marked with a place card featuring a golden key, which represents the MFWC theme for the year.

Mrs. J. H. McMurphy, president, called the meeting to order, welcomed the members and thanked those who worked on varoius projects during the summer. Mr.

Horace McMurphy was recognized as special guest. Mrs. H. T. Christian sang two inspiring vocal selections, and Mrs.

G. T. Mapp gave the invocation. A short business meeting fol lowed the delicious dinner ser ved by the hostesses. The finance chairman, Mrs.

A. Grafton submitted the budget for the new club year. It was approved by the club. Mrs. G.

B. Beard, yearbook chairman presented the new year books and gave a word of explanation about them. Mrs. H. E.

Bishop and Mrs V. R. Lackey gave a joint report on their trip to Washington for the Community Achievement award. Mrs. G.

T. Mapp gave the courtesy committee report on activities during the summer. Mrs. R. S.

Cooper, Mrs. J. C. McMurphy and Mrs. Ruby Craig were appointed to serve on the nominating committee for new officers.

Harrison visited Mrs. D. L. Harrison, Miss Clara Warren and Mrs. Susie Jones in Lackey Hospital.

Miss Beulah Putnam who is a member of the faculty in Meadville spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Putnam. Miss Susie Goss is several weeks with relatives in Meridian.

We are sorry to learn that Miss Clara Warren is quite ill. I understand that she was injured while playing ball at Sebastopol. She is a student transfered from Ringgold. Edgar May received a broken finger while playing football at Sebastopol. Mr.

and Mrs. Austin Brantley and Billie of Jackson visited a while with Mrs. E. G. Burkes, and they also drove over to Sebastopol ad called on Mrs.

J. C. Johnson. Mrs. J.

W. Lewis and children of Newton spent the week end with their paprents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Walters. Mr.

and Mrs. Claude Driscoll were Sunday visitors in Lena with Mrs. Margie Dumas. Mr. Rex Reeves friends were proud to see him about in town Saturday meeting old friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Horace Warren and children of Pulaski spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. D.

Warren. Miss Shirley Warren of ECJC spent the week end with her parents and Mr. Keith Jones of ECJC spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Huston Jones.

Mr. Hershia Ellis, an uncle of Mr. Arick Ellis, passed away in Carthage Tuesday afternoon and Mr. Arick Ellis and son attended the funeral. We are in sympathy with the relatives and family.

Mrs. Fannie Johnson and Mrs. Harvey Spell and son, Frankie of Jackson were callers of Mrs. J. L.

Wolf Saturday. Little Debbie Warren spent Wednesday with Little Joyce Robinson. Mrs. Bernice Milner was a guest of Mrs. Grady Sessums a few days last week.

Miss Kathy Durr of Forest spent Thursday night with Mrs. Levi Robinson. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Grady were Mr.

and Mrs. Windell Sessums and Carol of Forest; Mr. and Mrs. L. E.

Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Brown of Jackson; and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson and Joyce.

Mrs. Jeffie Hayes of Mobile was visiting friends and relatives here. She spent Saturday night with Mrs. Effie Weems. Mrs.

Ola Arnold and Alton had as week end visitors, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Arnold, Dewayne and Tommy of Houseville Texas, and Miss Etoile Arnold of Laurel. Friends extend sympathy to the Walters family in the death of Mrs. J.

R. Spaulding, the former Miss Nettie Walters, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis Walters of Ringgold. She passed away last Thursday in Jackson and was buried on Saturday in Canton.

She is a niece of Mr. Cooper Walters of the Piketon community and has several relatives here. She has one sister, Cloe Neal and two brothers, Franklin and Hunt Walters. Birthday Dinner A surprise birthday dinner was given in honor of Mrs. Jim Gardner on Sept.

18th, by her friends and relatives. She celebrated her 58th birthday. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Will May, Misses Jewel, Cleo, Christine and Irma May; Mr.

NEWS FROMWalnut Grove Our community was saddened this morning when news came that two of our good men passed away during the night. They were Mr. Eugene Mott and "Judge" Otho Golden. Mr. Mott was well as usual Friday.

He ghter, Mrs. Francis Wilkerson, Glennie Stewart and her daughter, Mrs. Francis Wilkerson, Forest, Mrs. Marie Gomillion of Carthage and Mrs. Madelyn Sanders, Houston, Texas.

Mr. Golden has been in a convalescent home for several weeks after being hospitalized with a stroke. He is the father of Bill Golden here and New Orleans and Mrs. Marie Clark, Carthage, Mrs. Nell Lott and Mrs.

Leolyn Eichelberger of Jackson. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved families. Mrs. Pat Boyles, Jackson, and a former neighbor of ours spent last week end with Mr. and Mrs.

Betty visited her husband's mother, Mrs. Jesse Don- ald at St. Dominics where she had eye surgery Mr. and Mrs. Billy Earl Bustin and Billy, Hattiesburg, were last week end guests of her parents Mr Mrs.

Jim Madden and Jimmy. Sympathy is extended the bereaved families of Mr. Herschell Ellis, Carthage, Rev. Palmertree, Mrs. Lamar Brantley' father, died this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Laurena nolds had as guests for a short time their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Powell and Wanda of Biloxi.

They saw their grandmother, Mrs. Callie Britt. Mrs. Pearl Kirksey is spendnig some time with her sister, Mrs. Mae Wallace in Hickory Flatt.

Our seniors went up to Parchman Friday for a very pleasant day. Mr. Jimmy Howard Collier accompanied Brenda Morrow, Shirley Brantley, Carey Upton, Jimmy Madden, Truitt Phillips, Scotty Greer, Paul Roland, Billy Joe Crain, Wesley Allen and Pete Russell. Mr. and Mrs.

Russell Perkins were called here as his father Mr. Perkins died this week. They visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Coleman.

Jack and Mary Lou Ware of Starkville spent the week end with the Roy Wares. The Young Peoples Class of Presbyterian Church enjoyed a picnic supper at the park at Carthage Thursday night. Mrs. Chester Green and Mrs. Randolph Green were chaperones.
