Morris, April 13. Society Fersonals dubs the club to a most important meeting on water pollution to be held at the Heidelberg Hotel April 24. At the conclusion of the program, the chairman presented the numbers of her committee and also hostesses for the evening as typical business women of any town, namely: Mabel Hopper, as a retired business woman; Gladys Shelton, as a professional woman; and Verna Mitchell as a young business woman and also a homemaker. Salutes were given to all three, who are active members of Forest B.

Marines during a sea engagement in 1778. MRS. FIKES ELECTED TO HEAD The Forest Business and Professional Women's Club met on Tuesday, March 28, at 6:30 p. in the Rose Room of Old South Cafe for its regular program meeting. President Arlee Hunter presided.

Etoile Hopkins gave the invocation. Nannie Mae Fountain, as the chairman of the Nominating Committee, presented the following names as officers for the year 1961-62 and they were unanimously elected: Mary Fikes, president; Nell Rester, first vice-president; E-toile Hopkins, second vice president; Jewel Smith, third vice-president; Myrtle Morris, treasurer; Abbie Jewel Williamson, corresponding secretary; Eleanor Dillard, recording secretary. Horace and Ann McMurphy and son, Mike, of Madison spent the week end with Horace's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McMurphy.

Mr. and Mrs, Joe Upton of Bay Springs were guests in the home of their daughter Johnny Jo McMurphy, and family Sun day. Lt. Col. and Mrs.

Ham Carter and children, Buster, Edgar and Ellie of Oxford were week end guests of Mrs. Ellie Coleman. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy McNeese of Jackson were Sunday guests in the home of their daughter, Lila Cooper and family.

and Mrs. Hi Eastland Steele of McLean, left on last Wednesday, after having spent a week with his mother, Mrs. C. M. Steele.

Mrs. C. H. Noblin, Mrs. Rubye Craig, and Connie spent the week end in Jackson in the Bea- man Noblin home.

Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Craig and son, Louie, of Marks, spent Mori-day night with Mrs. Rubye Craig and Connie. Mrs.

Ollie Cooper. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Cooper, and Jam-ellia spent a recent week end in McComb with Mr. and Mrs.

and Mrs. L. E. Reid of Canton and Tommie Quinn Boyles, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Troy Boyles of Burns, were united in marriage on Sunday, March 12 at the First Baptist Church, Canton. The Rev. David Cranford, pastor, officat-ed at the double ring ceremony. The sanctuary and altar were attractively decorated with a basket of white gladioli and stock flanked by emerald palm foliage and cathedral candelabra with white tapers. Music was presented by Mrs.

Herman Dean, organist, and Mr. Herbert Batson, soloist. Miss Velma Lee Reid, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor, and was the bride's only attendant. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a short sheath dress of soft white cotton lace with three-quarter length sleeves, scooped neckline, and girdled by a white satin cummerbund.

Her only jewelry was a single pearl on a silver chain. Her shoulder length veil fell from a tiara of pearls and rhinestones. She carried a yel low-throated white orchid, en throned on a white Bible as the bride's bouquet. The bridegroom was attended by Larry Johnson of Shaw as best man. Milton Reid, brother of the bride and Charles Boy les of Burns brother of the groom, served as groomsmen.

Visitors in the Roy Hughes home during the week end were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rester and sons, Rusty and Dennisf of Jack son; Mr. and Mrs. James Roberts and Bill of Pineville, and Mr.

and Mrs. Haskell Madden of Walnut Grove. The family celebrated Mr. Hughes' birth day and and Mrs. Hughes' anniversary on Sunday.

Mrs. Thelma Rogers visited Mr. and Mrs. Gatha Sullivan and Miss Geneva Rogers at Soso Sunday. Mrs.

Elizabeth Burleson and Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Ainsworth of Jackson and James Earl Barnes of New Orleans were guests new Willie and Miriam Simmons and their children, Dick and Sue, of Columbia, spent the week end with Miriam's parents Mr. and Ms. C.

B. Quinn. Among the students who are at home for the spring holidays are George Gray Townsend, David Doty, Dan Brantley, and James Gatewood of Baylor University, Texas. Mr. and M-rs.

Hilton Boyles visited Mr. and Mrs. Leo Guillia-man in Pineville, from Thursday thorugh Sunday. The Guilliamans asked that they give their regards to all their friends in Forest. Weekend guests in the home of Mr.

Raymond Shields and daughter, Beverly, of Wiggins. Mr. and Mrs. Shields are former residents of Forest. FORTNIGHTLY CLUB The Fortnightly Club met in the home of Mrs.

T. G. McCor-mick on March 30 with Mrs. Sara C. Lee as co-hostess.

The president, Mrs. G. B. Beard, presided over the business session. Mrs.

S. A. Grafton read the club collect as the meditation. Minutes of the pre vious meeting were read and approved. Mrs.

Beard thanked those who helped decorate the livestock shew float and the stage for the queen's contest. Awards from the 5th 'dis trict convention were announced and presented to the dif ferent chairmen. 1 Mrs. Ott ack nowledged the lovely floral ar rangements and thanked those who made them for the club meeting. Mrs.

L. W. Willey, chair man of national defense divi sion, presented Mr. A. A.

Mills, chairman of the Forest Nation al defense, Mrs. S. A. Grafton, Scott county chairman and Mr. Grafton, in turn, presented Mr.

Lawrence Feduccia of Cleve land, who is deputy state civil defense director. Mr. Fe duccia showed a film on national defense and a very interesting talk stressing preparedness for national defense. Marguerite Phillips of Ft. Worth, Texas, visited Mrs. J. W. Goodson for a short while Tuesday.

They were on their way to the Azalea trail. Frank and Billie Joyce Colbert accompanied the Morton High Senior Class to Mobile, and to interesting places in Florida from Wednesday through Sunday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. W.
