L. E. Reid of Canton and Tommie Quinn Boyles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Boyles of Burns, were united in marriage on Sunday, March 12 at the First Baptist Church, Canton.

The Rev. David Cranford, pastor, officated at the double ring ceremony. The sanctuary and altar were attractively decorated with a basket of white gladioli and stock flanked by emerald palm foliage and cathedral candelabra with white tapers. Music was presented by Mrs. Herman Dean, organist, and Mr.

Herbert Batson, soloist. Miss Velma Lee Reid, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor, and was the bride's only attendant. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a short sheath dress of soft white cotton lace with threequarter length sleeves, scooped neckline, and girdled by a white satin cummerbund. Her only jewelry was a single pearl on a silver chain.

Her shoulder length veil fell from a tiara of pearls and rhinestones. She carried a yellow-throated white orchid, enthroned on a white Bible as the bride's bouquet. The bridegroom was attended by Larry Johnson of Shaw as best man. Milton Reid, brother of the bride and Charles Boyles of Burns brother of the groom, served as groomsmen. Visitors in the Roy Hughes home during the week end were Mr.

and Mrs. Bob Rester and sons, Rusty and Dennis, of Jackson; Mr. and Mrs. James Roberts and Bill of Pineville, and Mr. and Mrs.

Haskell Madden of Walnut Grove. The family celebrated Mr. Hughes' birthday and Mr. and Mrs. Hughes' anniversary on Sunday.

Mrs. Thelma Rogers visited Mr. and Mrs. Gatha Sullivan and Miss Geneva Rogers at Soso Sunday. Mrs.

Elizabeth Burleson and Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Ainsworth of Jackson and James Earl Barnes of New Orleans were guests WEDNESDAY, APRIL 5, 1961 and children, Malise and Andy, of Monroe, spent the Easter holidays with Mrs. Mapp's mother, Mrs. S.

A. Dearman and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. John Bondurant and sons, Sid and Si, spent the week end in Philadelphia where the Wiggins family enjoyed a reunion in the home of Mr.

Meredith Mitchell and children, Ronnie, Tim, and Merrill, and Mrs. Eula Lowe visited Mr. and Mrs. Truett Smith and family in Jackson Sunday. Mr.

Runge and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Mitchell Sunday. It was good to see the college students at home over the Easter week end, many of whom enjoyed Spring holidays several days this week. Miss Betty Freeman of Biloxi visited her mother, Mrs.

Eva Freeman over the week end. Mrs. Katrina McMillan of McComb visited her mother, Mrs. Fannie Bennett and her son, Tippy Bishop, and family over the week end. Dr.

and Mrs. Tony Austin and Ann of Newton spent the week end with Mrs. Thelma Austin and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Barnes.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman McKenzie of Greenwood spent the week end with his mother, Mrs. Maude McKenzie. Mr Mrs.

Enoch Youngblood visited in the home of their daughter, Margaret Aldridge, and family at Clarksdale Friday and Saturday of last week. Guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Barnes Sunday were their daughter, Patricia Pelham and sons, John and David of Atlanta, Dr. and Mrs.

Tony Austin and Ann of Newton, Mrs. Thelma Austin, Mrs. Tom Risher and Mrs. Burnham Moore of Pulaski. Mrs.

Homer Barnes accompanied her daughter, Patricia Pelham and sons, to their home in Atlanta, Tuesday and visited several days with them. Mrs. Olivia McKenzie spent several days last week, with her sister, Fredna Phillips and Mr. Phillips in Clinton. Lt. Col. and Mrs. Ham Carter and children, Buster, Edgar and Ellie of Oxford were week end guests of Mrs. Ellie Coleman.

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy McNeese of Jackson were Sunday guests in the home of their daughter, Lila Cooper and family. Mr. and Mrs.

Bond Smith had as their Sunday guests Mr. Smith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F.

Smith of Laurel. Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Heltsley of Louisville, are visiting in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Beard.

Mr. and Mrs. Surry Grafton and children, Johnny, Jeff, and Missy visited in the home of Mr. Grafton's mother, Mrs. S.

A. Grafton, at Huntsville, Alabama. Mr. and Mrs. Hi Eastland Steele of McLean, left on last Wednesday, after having spent a week with his mother, Mrs.

H. Noblin, Mrs. Rubye Craig, and Connie spent the week end in Jackson in the Beaman Noblin home. Mr. and Mrs.

Vivian Craig and son, Louie, of Marks, spent Monday night with Mrs. Rubye Craig and Connie. Mrs. Ollie Cooper, Mr. and Mrs.

W. Goodson for a short while Tuesday. They were on their way to the Azalea trail. Frank and Billie Joyce Colbert accompanied the Morton High Senior Class to Mobile, and to interesting places in Florida from Wednesday through Sunday of last week. Mr.

Willie and Miriam Simmons and their children, Dick and Sue, of Columbia, spent the week end with Miriam's parents Mr. and Ms. C. B. Quinn.

Among the students who are at home for the spring holidays are George Gray Townsend, David Doty, Dan Brantley, and James Gatewood of Baylor University, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Boyles visited Mr. and Mrs.

Leo Guilliaman in Pineville, from Thursday thorugh Sunday. The Guilliamans asked that they give their regards to all their friends in Forest. Weekend guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.

A. Patrick were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shields and daughter, Beverly, of Wiggins. Mr.

and Mrs. Shields are former residents of Forest. FORTNIGHTLY CLUB The Fortnightly Club met in the home of Mrs. T. G.

McCormick on March 30 with Mrs. Sara C. Lee as co-hostess. The president, Mrs. G.

B. Beard, presided over the business session. Mrs. S. A.

Grafton read the club collect as the meditation. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mrs. Beard thanked those who helped decorate the livestock shew float and the stage for the queen's contest. Awards from the 5th district convention were announced and presented to the different chairmen.

Mrs. Ott acknowledged the lovely floral arrangements and thanked those who made them for the club meeting. Mrs. L. W.

Willey, chairman of national defense division, presented Mr. A. A. Mills, chairman of the Forest National defense, Mrs. S.

A. Grafton, Scott county chairman and Mr. Grafton, in turn, presented Mr. Lawrence Feduccia of Cleveland, who is deputy state civil defense director. Mr.

Feduccia showed a film on national defense and, made a very interesting talk stressing preparedness for national defense. An invitation was read by the president inviting members of the club to a most important meeting on water pollution to be held at the Heidelberg Hotel April 24. Mississippi is the first state to take steps along this line. The meeting was then turned over to the hostesses, who served a dessert plate to the members and several invited guests. MRS.

FIKES ELECTED TO HEAD The Forest Business and Professional Women's Club met on Tuesday, March 28, at 6:30 p. in the Rose Room of Old South Cafe for its regular program meeting. President Arlee Hunter presided. Etoile Hopkins gave the invocation. Nannie Mae Fountain, as the chairman of the Nominating Committee, presented the following names as officers for the year 1961-62 and they were unanimously elected: Mary Fikes, president; Nell Rester, first vice-president; E- toile Hopkins, second vice president; Jewel Smith, third vicepresident; Myrtle Morris, treasurer; Abbie Jewel Williamson, corresponding secretary; Eleanor Dillard, recording secretary.

Following the election of officers, the president presented the public relations chairman, Katherine Robertson, who outlined the functions of the Public Relations Committee in the building and maintaining good will for the club and its program, stressing the more people the members tell about B. P. W. the wider our scope of influence. Nannie Mae Fountain gave the meaning of the Emblem.

The following committee chairmen gave a few pointers on their respective committees: Myrtle Morris, finance chairman; Emma Pearl Yonce, membership chairman; Irene Guyse, legislation chairman; Eva Freeman, health and safety. At the conclusion of the program, the chairman presented the numbers of her committee and also hostesses for the evening as typical business women of any town, namely: Mabel Hopper, as a retired business woman; Gladys Shelton, as a professional woman; and Verna Mitchell as a young business woman and also a homemaker. Salutes were given to all three, who are active members of Forest B. P. W.

Club and play their respective part in the life of our city. Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Q. Boyles of Mr.

and Mrs. R. F. Barnes and Ann during the week end. Mr.

and Mrs. Dale Tennyson and daughter, Windy, of Jackson, Tennessee, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rester and sons, Rusty and Dennis, of Jackson, visited their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Nell Rester, during the week end.

Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Lott and Ann of Shreveport, visited in the home of Mrs.

J. P. Craig over the week end. Mrs. J.

P. Craig spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. C. R.

Shuttleworth in Pelahatchie. Miss Sylvia Howell of Canton spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Howell. Mrs.

Mary Katherine Loyocano and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Edmondson and children of Jackson spent several days last week with Mrs. R. J.

Knoblock and Mr. Knoblock who was ill in the Lackey Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tally and Tanya of Greenville spent the Easter week end with Mrs.

Tally's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Nordan. Mr. and Mrs.

George Antley and Miss Annie Antley visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robin Dinwiddie at Moorhead over the week end. Mr. and Mrs.
