John L. Pictrowski, left. Group Commander at Aviano Air Force Base, Italy, where the lieutenant and his wife, the former Lynn Johnston of Forest, are now stationed. The citation read: "First Lieut. Ben H.

Catalina, distinguished himself as Squadron Section Commander, 306th Civil Engineering Squadron, 306th Combat Support Group, McCoy AFB, Florida, from 17 September 196? to 6 December 1971. During this period the professionalism, leadership and ceaseless efforts of Lieut. Catalina resulted in major contributions to the effectiveness and outstanding support of the squadron administrative sections. The distinctive accomplishments of Lieut. Catalina reflect credit upon himself and the United States Air Force." Lieut.

Catalina is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben H. Catalina of Clarksdale and his wife is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Erie Johnston of Forest. At Aviano AFB, Lieut. Catalina is serving as Chief of Administration. Mrs. KusMim Rites Held At Bethel The funeral services for Mrs.

Tiny Russum, 70, of Route 1, Pulaski, were held on Monday, April 17, at 00 in the Bethel Baptist Church in Smith County with Rev. Clarence Hughes and Rev. G. T. Henderson officiating.

Interment followed in the church cemetery with Ott Lee Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Russum passed away in the S. E. lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest on Sunday following an extended illness.

She was a bfelong resident of Smith County and a member of the Btthcl Baptist Church, The survivors are her husband, J. Oscar Russum of Route 1, Pulaski; one daughter, Mrs. John Thomas Barnes of Pulaski; one grandson; one sister, Mrs. Herman McDaniel of Route 1, Raleigh; and two brothers, Burley Burns of Pulaski and John Burns of Route 1, Raleigh. The pallbearers were Hugh Nile Barnes, Charles Boyles, Marty Russum, Richard Russum, Steve Russum, and Ricky Russum.

CHURCH OF COD IN FOREST PLANS REVIVAL SERVICES The Forest Church of God will have their Spring revival services beginning on Monday night, April 24 and continuing through Saturday night. The services will begin each night at 7:00 p.m. The visiting evangelist will be Rev. Lamar Davis of the Ackerman Church of God in Ackerman. Rev.

W. E. Walker, pastor of the Forest Church of God, extends a cordial invitation to the public to attend each service. "The person who rides a bicycle has fewer headaches than average," says a doctor. Yes, but is his overall total aches fewer? Some scientists declare that man is becoming obsolete.

and Mrs. J. S. Trussel in Jackson and accompanied them to Picayune for a visit with their sister, Mrs. Edna Sumrall.

By Mrs. Viola Sharp Friends here of Mrs. Janice Hogue Pigg of Jackson were shocked and grieved to to learn of her sudden death Tuesday. Funeral services were held in Jackson Thursday with internment in Leake County in the Cedar Grove Church Cemetery beside the grave of her husband, Ned Pigg. We extend sympathy to her young sons, ages 9 nd 11, to her parents, Mr and Mrs.

Lize Hogue, her sister, Tommie, who resides with her husband in Nevada, and her brother, David. Janice was valedictorian of her graduating class here in 1955. She was employed as secretary to Mr. Pippen with National School Pictures and won much recognition and honors in her chosen profession. Mr.

and Mrs. Pee Wee Scott spent the weekend with his parents and visited his grandfather, L. Watkins Sr. who is seriously ill in the Laird's Hospital. Our sympathy goes out to the family of Mr.

Will Sanderson who passed away in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jenkins Sunday night. Funeral services were held at Salem Presbyterian Church Wednesday afternoon. Rev. R.

C. Smith, Rev. Claud Phillips, and Rev. Bill Boykin officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Little Jennifer Huggins was real happy last Friday to have the cast removed from her leg. Jennifer will have surgery again in about two months. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Thompson over the arrival of a baby boy born April 10.

Mrs. Lavenia Bates of Canton visited the Paul Bates over the weekend. Mrs. Minnie Lee Ramphur of Columbus visited Mrs. Florence Mae Thompson one day last week.

Mr. and Mrs. William R. Shoemaker and children visited Mr. and Mrs.

Jennie Dale Warren in Canton Sunday. Miss Ruby Smith of Jackson and Bob Rogers of Madden were married last Friday. We wish for them much happiness. Mr. and Mrs.

Steve Duncan of Jackson visited Mrs. Ora Bates Sunday afternoon, Mrs. Kate Franklin has returned home from the hospital and is doing as well as could be expected after undergoing surgery. Sorry to hear that Mrs. June Harrell is in the St.

Bettie Easterling under went open heart surgery, April 3 at Houston, Texas. Bettie stayed with Bessie Lee and family over at the hospital Monday through Saturday. Glad to say he is doing as well as expected. We wish for him a speedy recovery. Mrs.

Bettie Easterling carried her mother, Mrs. Meadery Myers Monday to a doctor in Jackson for a check up. We are sorry to know that Meady is not doing to good at this time. Hope that she will soon be feeling much better. Veterans Administration physicians told Congress recently that the agency is involved in 35 research projects on sickle cell anemia, and that 15 additional VA hospitals will soon join the effort.

District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi and permanently enjoined from further violations of the Cotton Research and Promotion Act, the U. S. Department of Agriculture has reported. Officials of USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service said the firm failed to remit $1 per bale on cotton purchased during the 1968,1969 and 1970 cotton seasons, as required by the act. PEANUT CROP The revised 1971 estimate of peanut acreage harvested for nuts is 9,500 acres.

Yield per acre last year was 1,785 pounds compared with 1,100 pounds a year earlier.
