Wednesday, April 15, 1981 SCOTT COUNTY TIMES ISA Ella Green Funeral service were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 1981 at Pine Grove Pentecostal Chrach for Mrs. EUa Parlee Green, 88, with the Rev. Junior Price, the Rev. Kenneth Rocko, and the Rev.

Lee Wol-verton officiating. Burial was In Damascus Cemetery. Wilcox Funeral Home In Carthage was In charge of arrangements. 1 Mrs. Green died April 6 at Carthage Health Care Center after a lengthy Illness.

She. was a native of Newton County. Mrs. Green was a member of Gilmer's Chapel Church of God. Survivors are her husband, David M.

Green, Carthage; three daughters, Mrs. Rosie Pinter, Lake; Mrs. Carmen French1, Gulf-port; Mrs. IvaGallComans.Sebas-topol; a son, James W. Wolverton, Sebastopol; a sister, Mrs.

Josephine Sante, Birmingham; 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grand children, and one great-greatgrandchild. Pallbearers were Kenneth Pinter, Billy Pinter, Rip Wolverton, Jerry Pinter, Robert Pinter, and Wolverton. Alex Mays Lena Arnold cago, three brothers, Adrian Russell, Memphis, and Clarence RusseU and Gene Russell, bothof Pontotoc; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Larry Arnold, Eddie Arnold, WUllam Arnold, Tommy Arnold, David Arnold and Jim Burroughs. BUYS LAND JACKSON The Mississippi Wildlife Heritage Committee this week acquired som 260 acres in the state's Delta region for outdoor recreation.

The purchase from C.J. Kennedy of Greenwood, brings to nearly 384 acres of prime water-fowl habitat acquired by the Committee recently. Earlier in March Kennedy donated some 123 acres to the Committee, Funeral services for Alex Mays, 55, were held April 11, 1981 at the Church of God in Christ In Morton with Elder Isom Shivers officiating and W.F. Mapp Funeral Home In charge of arrangements. Mays died AprU 4, 1981 In his home.

He was born June 2, 1925, the son of Shack Mays and the late Lllla Mays. He married Lessle Spivey Mays and to this union one son was born. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lessle Mays; one son, Clarence Mays, Jackson; five step children, his father, Shack Mays, Morton; one sister, Julia Boyd, Morton; three brothers, Wllbert Mays, Henry Mays, Deland, and Earnest Mays, Meridian.

Pallbearers were his brothers. Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Arnold, 82, were held at 1th 00 a.m., Wednesday, AprU 8, 1981. from the Ott Lee Chapel In Morton. The Rev.

Lloyd Adcock and the Rev, Jim Nunnelee officiated. Interment was made In the Brandon Memorial Cemetery In Rankin County. Mrs. Arnold died Monday morning at the Rankin General Hospital, following a lengthy Illness. She was formerly of Pontotoc and had lived at Brandon for the past 35 years.

She was a member of the Clarksburg United Pentecostal Church at Morton. Survivors Include lwp sons, the Rev L.Q. Arnold, Morton and George Arnold, Brandon; two stepsons, Leon Arnold, Jackson and Roy Arnold, Tupeloi- two daughters, Mrs. Newell (Vivian) Taylor, Brandon, and Mrs. James (Sara) Robertson, Pearl; two stepdaughters, Mrs.

Leona Wages, Tupelo, and Mrs. Inez Agar, Chi I Beth Riser Goff Hoye Duckworth Grove Baptist Church. Survivors Include his wife, Mrs. Maude Duckworth, Long Beach; three sons, Hoye F. Duckworth, Wesson, Tim Duckworth, Marrero, and Lindsey Duckworth, Jackson; six daughters, Mrs.

Ray (Mattie) Evans, Haughton, Mrs. Milo (Jackie! Lincoln, Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. William E. (Celia) Tompkins, Jackson, Mrs. Alva D.

(Millie) Boykln, Schertz, Texas, Mrs. Robert M. (Sarah) Blue, Long Beach, and Mrs. Blair A. (Virginia) Watkins, Scbaslopol; 28 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Sam Evans, Richard Evans, Jay Duckworth, Stan Lincoln, Johnny Evans, and Roger Boykln. Georgean Baker Funeral services for Georgean Baker, 83, were held AprU 10, 1981 with the Rev. Plttman officiating and W.F. Mapp Funeral Home In charge of arrangements. Mrs.

Baker died AprU 5. 1981 In Scott County Nursing Home. She was born August 27, 1897 In Scott County to the late Jeff Jones and Lula Slocum Jones. She was married to Dan Baker. She Joined the Christian Triumph Missionary Baptist Church several years ago.

She served as home missionary. Survivors Include a sister, Lucindy Jones, Grand Rapids, Michigan; a son-in-law, Kelly Manning, and two great-grand Funeral services for Beth Riser Funeral services for Hoye E. Duckworth, 81, were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 1981, from the Hopewell Baptist Church. Rev. Paul Smith officiated.

Interment was made in the Hopewell Cemetery with Ott Lee Funeral Home In charge of arrangements. Duckworth died Friday morning at Ihe Mlramar Nursing Home at Pass Christian, following an extended illness. He had been a resident of Lortg Beach for the past 15 years and formerly lived In the High Hill Community in Scott County. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Oak Goff. 49, were held April 8, 1981 from Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home In Jackson.

Burial was made In Jackson Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Goff died April 7, 1981 at Hinds General Hospital. She Is survived by her husband, Kenny Goff, Jackson; two daughters, Angle Fisher and Mona Lynn Balnes, both of Jackson; her mother, Mrs. Carl (Etoyal) Riser, Forest; one grandchild, Jared Fisher; five sisters, Patsy Gardner, Carolyn Haralson, Wilma White, all of Forest; Anna Belle Toler, Liberty; Nancy Shaw, Vlcksburg; two brothers, Delton Riser and Carey Riser, both of Forest.

Interment was made in theGrover-ton Cemetery with Ott Lee Funeral Home in Morton in charge of arrangements. Slade died Thursday at the Rankin General Hospital in Brandon. He was a resident of Route 2, Morton and was a retired employee of the Glass Container Corporation in Jackson, and was a member of the Groverton Presbyterian Church. Survivors Include his wife, Mrs. Lucille Slade, Route 2.

Morton; one son, Jim Smith, Hattiesburg; two sisters, Miss Mary Slade, and Mrs. Mildred Schoeff ler, both of Jackson and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ricky Reeves, Danny Reeves, Sol Davis, Jimmy Lois Smith, Joe Howard Minion and Sieve Minton. Smith, 47, were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 1981, from the Goodhope Baptist Church In Leake County.

Rev. Lamar Williams and Jtev. Henry Adams officiated, interment was made in the Cedar Prove Cemetery. i Smith died unexpectedly Sunday at his home. He was a resident of Cedar Grove Community, Route 1, Lena for the past 14 years and formerly lived In the Pulaski Community.

He was a poultry farmer and was a member of the Goodhope Baptist Church. Mrs. King died Wednesday morning at her home at Route 2, Vaiden, where she had lived for the past seven months, following a short illness.

She previously lived at Morton and Philadelphia, and was a member of the Old Pearl Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Erbie Spears, Vaiden and Lamar Spears, Forest; two daughters, Mrs. Lola Bozeman and Mrs. Bonnie Bozeman, bothof Philadelphia; 27 grandchildren and 32 flush. Less seat.

April 12. 1981 at Wilcox Chapel for Mrs. Mary Ferguson, 52, of Indianapolis, Indiana with the Rev. Earl Hartfield and Brother Grady Sims officiating. Burial was in Mt.

2ion cemetery. Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage was In charge of arrangements. Mrs. Ferguson died April 10 at Indianapolis Community Hospital after a sudden illness. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Jackson.

Survivors are her husband, Bob Ferguson, Indiana; her mother, Mrs. H.O. Tatum, Walnut Grove; a step daughter, Mrs. Maryletta Davis, Tallahasse, Florida; two step sons, Richard Ferguson, Indianapolis; Riley Ferguson, Washington, D.C.; eight sisters, Mrs. Nona Peoples, Carthage; Mrs.

Claudine Sylvester, Carthage; Mrs. Carolyn Watkins, Brandon; Mrs. Barbara Kemp, Jackson; Mrs. Rhetta Williamson, Jackson; Mrs. Jimmie Kay Sis-trunk, Walnut Grove; Mrs.

Sandra Lofton, Jackson; Mrs. Sue Cumberland, Walnut Grove; two broth-. ers, J.D. Tatum, Baton Rouge; and Ronald Tatum, Shreveport. Pallbearers were Clayton Peoples, Harold Watkins, Pat Kemp, John Williamson, Larry Lofton, and David Sylvester.

Sonny Warren Funeral services for William Webber (Sonny) Warren, 51, were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 1981, from the Homewood Methodist Church. Interment was made in the Church Cemetery. Rev. RoeBallowwastheofficiating minister. He died Monday afternoon following an extended illness.

Survivors include three sons, falher and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Will Warren, Rt. 2, Forest, three brothers, Charles Warren, Rt. 2, Forest, Kenneth Warren, Jackson, Dr.

David Warren, Mobile, one sister, Mrs. Willa Herring, Laurel and a host of neices and nephews. Pallbearers were Johnny Warren, Bobby Warren, E.V. Man-gum, Billy Noblin, Harold Moore and Ray Barnes. Bradford Funeral Home was In charge of arrangements.
